Petite Shoe Round-Up: What you need to know
Let's be real- if you're very petite, you've probably struggled on and off when it comes to buying shoes. For me, it's been a nightmare because it took a while until I even fit into size 5 shoes. But even now, there are still a ton of brands that don't carry a size 5. Therefore, I thought it might be beneficial to detail some things I've learned along the way, including brands that cater towards petites, brands to avoid, and stores where you'll most likely find what you're looking for. *I'm only including brands that are budget friendly-moderately priced (no Marc Fisher or Louboutin's)
Nordstrom- as a department store, there are tons of shoe brands to choose from. And with free shipping and returns, it's a great option for petites since a lot of brands don't regularly stock size 5 shoes. I'm going to highlight a few brands that are sold at Nordstrom (nothing overtly expensive) that sell small sizes:
- Sam Edelman (starts at size 4 for lots of styles)
- Vince Camuto (every style starts at size 5, some start at a size 4)
- Naturalizer (most start at size 4)
- Cole Haan (starts at size 5)
- Treasure and Bond (starts at size 5)
- Steve Madden (hit or miss, some styles start at size 5)
- Lucky Brand (starts at size 5)
Big-Box Stores- stores like Target and Walmart have drastically upped their game when it comes to fashionable shoes. It's insane how many shoes I've purchased in the last 2 years that are from Target. Below I'll highlight some brands from both stores that are (and aren't) petite friendly
Target- A New Day and Universal Thread are the two main brands, and most of those shoes start at a size 5 (as a warning, you almost NEVER see size 5 in store, so be prepared to order online)
Walmart- I've seen so many influencers posting shoes from Walmart and it's very exciting. However, almost every shoe I find doesn't come in a 5 unfortunately. Below I'll highlight each main brand and detail how they stack up
- Scoop (starts at size 6)
- Brinley & Co (starts at size 5.5)
- Time and Tru (starts at size 6)
- Melrose Ave (starts at size 5)
Other brands to consider (that sell size 5 but also have kids styles that work as a dupe)- these brands have kids styles that look very similar to the women's styles which is a great option when maybe the size 5 is just too big (or you want to save some $$$)
- Rothys
- Toms
- Ugg
- Sperry
I hope this is helpful for any of you super petite women out there (or women with awesome small feet) :)
